Tim and I went to the early Christmas service and are now alone in the big Shannon house killing some time while the rest of the Shannon bunch are at the late church service… So we thought we would write a quick post.
Happy almost Christmas. Wait. It is exactly midnight…
We made it down in pretty good time on Saturday. We had a very very long night Saturday night. Michael would not sleep. He wasn’t acclimated to his new surroundings enough so we spent the majority of the night singing Itsy Bitsy Spider and Wheels on the Bus. While singing Wheels on the Bus for the hundredth time, Michael started signing “baby” so now when he sees a picture of a baby or even sometimes when we re holding Patrick, he will sign baby. So sweet.
Everyone has been scoping out gifts under the tree. I think the anticipation is worse now as “adults” than it was as kids. Carmen and I came up with a solution and we started a new Shannon Family tradition. All the kids (by kids I mean Tim and his siblings and Carmen and I)went to Wal Mart at Midnight on Christmas Eve and pulled a name out of a hat. We then had 20 minutes and 10 bucks to find a gift for that person. After shopping we raced home and wrapped the gift in whatever we could find and got to open a gift early. I would say it curbed (curved?) the craving for a little while but the tree full of presents is still pretty tempting…!
I would write more but the rest of the gang should be back soon so I will catch you up with all the latest adventures asasp.
Merry Christmas and God Bless!
