Amidst the ear infections, runny noses, coughs, sleepless nights, headaches, mysterious rashes I have found Joy. I was heading down Feel Sorry for Me BLVD when I heard a strange engine and scraping noise right outside the house. I peeked out the window and saw it. My Joy.
We got 8 inches of snow in less than 3 hours. You couldn’t even see out the window. I, in a moment of overwhelmed motherhood, left the garage door open after running to the pharmacy to pick up Patrick’s latest prescription. The snow blew in the garage and was up to my calves at the highest point of the drifts.
Needless to say, there was a lot of shoveling to do.
But then Joy happened. The engine was a snow blower. The scraping sound was a shovel. The two men decked out in full Carhart gear were my neighbors.
They dug/blew us out. Tim didn’t even have to shovel the walks when he got home. They did it all for us.
Tim and I trudged over later to each of their homes with some hot cookies just out of the oven. The least we could do. Shoveling all that snow when we both are sick with a bad cold could have done us in.
So that is my latest Joy.
Anyone else have a little something that has brightened your cold winter days?
