Her new obsession? Books. She could sit in my lap all day reading books. It’s a good thing that we have collected stacks and shelves worth of books over the past 6 years (when pregnant with Michael we didn’t know the sex so instead of indulging in baby clothes shopping, I bought books. Tons of books. We have also been gifted dozens and dozens of books over the years.)

I love that she loves books. Both Tim and I are book junkies. In fact, on more than one occasion, we have been known to use one of our precious and few date night to peruse the stacks at Borders or Barnes and Noble.

The boys love books too. We are actually planning on getting them started on chapter books with the help of Santa and his Elves this Christmas. I can’t wait to start reading chapter books with the boys. I have read (here is a great resource for reading to kids) that the Magic Tree House series is a great place to start. Anyone else know of any great first chapter books? What books did your parents read to you when you were young? What books do you read to your kids? What are your kid’s favorite books? What books do you plan on reading to your future children some day?

The first book I ever read around Michael’s age was The Mouse and the Motorcyle–fun memory! And, of course, I was obsessed with The Boxcar Children series, but I don’t know if you can even get those anymore.
