Open Source and Creative Commons

Creative commons and open source is a way of life in our house. There are few things that get Tim talking more passionately than open source and creative commons. Because of this we use Linux to run our computers, MythTV/MythBox to record our favorite TV shows, we use Gimp in favor of Photoshop, Shotwell to manage our photos, OpenShot Video Editor to edit video and WordPress to run the website. When Tim and I put together our two most recent videos of Elise’s birthday celebration extravaganza we wanted to stick with creative commons music. There are a few sites that you can use to download and sample creative commons music but the one we like the most is Jamendo. We love the music we found and I wanted to make sure to give a shout out (however small a shout out on our blog is) to the artist who shared the music with the world for free.

Tim found Giraffe by Bryyn of the album Crossing State Lines which we used in this video.

And I found Cheerful Lighthearted Pop-Rock by Akashic Records that Tim added into the cupcake video.
