• Michael Donovan: What’s in a name?

Michael Donovan Shannon.
Michael comes from Tim’s side of the family. It is his Father and his brother Ben’s middle name. The main reason we chose the name was because of how strong it is. Tim also likes it because it sounds Irish and because of the angel Michael in the bible.

Donovan comes from my side of the family. My Grandpa Donovan (my Mom’s Dad) was better known as Grandpa Moo (long story better left for another time) to Beth and me. He passed away the summer Tim and I started dating. Tim only had the chance to meet him once, but even in that short amount of time Grandpa left a lasting impression on him. That was the type of man he was. I only wish that in years to come, when Michael Donovan is old enough to ask about the man he was named after, I am finally able to come up with the words that are strong enough to describe my Grandpa Moo.

• Michael’s 1st Steps: August 7th 2007

Michael took his first steps on August 7th, as a Birthday present to his Great Grandma “Moo” and just 3 days before he turned 13 months old. He was leaning against the trunk we use as a coffee table in the living room and took 2 steps to get the couch where Tim and I were sitting. We were so excited we clapped and cheered for him, he looked so confused over why we were so excited! Since then he has been taking little steps to get from one piece of furniture to another welcoming any applause or cheer we give him. It won’t be long before he is off and running!
