Wedge

All she knew was that she was going to get to choose a pink sucker afterwards.

I didn’t doubt my decision until she took the first snip…

And there was no turning back after that.

She sat so nicely the whole time.

She earned that sucker and a trip to the park (you know it was so I could take photos but she thinks it is because she sat so nice. win win.)

I love the hair cut. It is so sweet and it will be so nice for all the sand box time and swimming that comes with summer.

Today is a cloudy overcast day with no sun shining at all. We will get rain this afternoon. The low light made catching a clear shot tough and I am so bummed this shot came out fuzzy and that the focus is just a little too far to the right.

She was done smiling at the camera at this point. I had my window of opportunity of happy, smiley Elise and missed the good shot. Oh well, I guess I will just try again some other time.

a couple more photos here.

update:

Here are a few more I overlooked when I originally uploaded photos. The rest you can find at the link above.

Sunshine and Denim

It is sundress time! Elise had to wear a little cardigan this morning but by noon the cardigan was no longer necessary.  Can you believe we had winter storm advisories a week ago today?!

I wrote yesterday that my favorite day is coming up. It wasn’t today but judging by the buds, I am guessing it will be tomorrow.

I won’t write too much about these photos beyond the mentioning I was on AV mode with my aperture or “F-stop” at F/4.5 on this photo.

Our front yard tree is beautiful in the fall but I love it most in the spring.

Here the camera is set at F/32 and the clouds look great

And here the you can really get the feel for why I love this tree. See what I mean by little neon green balls of life?

AV mode F/5

And now onto what Beth and my Mom really want to see. Elise in a sundress.

I don’t know why I never thought of this before. Michael has spent hours and hours with OTs who have all, at one time or another, recommended sitting on a stability ball to help him sit still. Elise sat on this ball (not a stability ball just a $2 ball from Target that Michael got for his 2nd birthday) and asked me to take a photo.

There is something about sitting on a ball that takes just the right amount of “work” to stay stable to keep their brain and body occupied enough to not want to make them run around but not too distracted that they can’t (or won’t) listen to you.

Of course she didn’t sit still the whole time. She asked me to take pictures of her kicking the ball and bouncing on the ball too.

Balls are my new favorite portrait prop.

Here is my favorite. Is it just me or did she just grow up? I see more preschooler than toddler in her every day.

Hands on

I am a hands on learner. I could read my camera manual cover to cover twice and learn nothing.   I just don’t learn like that. That is why when we play a new board game Tim always has to read the directions. It drives him crazy when I don’t give him my full attention when he is reading instructions out loud but really, even if I was giving 110% of my attention I still wouldn’t understand so why not stack the pieces of Ticket to Ride into a tower of mini train cars.

That said, in order to get better at taking photos I am just going to have to take more photos. I know my Mom will be thrilled with the idea because it means daily photos of her Grandkids so here we go again.

Today I was organized and the kids were cooperating so there was enough time for me to make waffles for breakfast AND playoutside before the bus came. I was even awake enough to grab my camera and snap a few shots. #parentingwin

This morning waiting for the bus.

Nothing special about this photo except for the fact that the boys are playing nicely and if I post this I will remember to take Michael to get his glasses fixed this afternoon. How those specs are still in one piece is a mystery. Thank goodness for free glasses adjustments.

My favorite time of year will be tomorrow or the next day. I love when the tree in our front yard looks like it has a thousand little neon green balls of life on its branches. Today is pretty good too.

If I titled my photos this one would be, “Didn’t I smile enough at the camera on Sunday?”

This is Elise’s “I’m a princess” dance. Even sick and running on little sleep the girl takes time to accessorise her outfit.

There is no place like home.

Elise picked out these shoes at Target before we went to Arizona. They are knock off Toms meets a hot pink pair of Dorthy’s Ruby slippers. I want a pair in my size.

This is Patrick’s favorite pass time. If riding down the hill in a truck were a sport he would be MVP.
