Its a Boy!

Baby Day! (October 9th):
Today is the day we have been counting down to. Keep us in your thoughts and prayers ’cause we are going to HAVE A BABY TODAY!

Week 38 Up Date (October 8th):
Tomorrow we induce. I have been having some tough contractions and am still feeling nauseous, but I think the nausea is from the nerves more than anything else. We are ready, ready as we will ever be, for this baby to come. I am doing my best not to let the nerves take over so I can enjoy my last day of just me and Michael. Crazy. Tomorrow I will become a mother of 2!

Week 37 Up Date (October 3rd):

I am almost 2 cm dilated and 70% effaced. The doc is hoping I will be at 3cm by Tuesday for the induction. Just a few more days to go and we will have another baby. I feel like I should be more organized, but I don’t know what else to do. I guess I could fold the receiving blankets again or maybe pack and repack my hospital bag…

Week 37 Up Date (October 2nd):

I have a check up this afternoon, hopefully I will have more news then but for now, my induction date has been changed to Tuesday, October 9th. Only 7 days to go! There is an end in sight.

Week 36 Up Date:

I had a check up today and left the doctors office trying not to cry out of frustration. All I got after explaining all my symptoms was a pity smile and a shoulder shrug. I have made ZERO progress and they will not induce until the baby is 38 weeks. The upside is they did schedule an induction date. October 12th 2007 we will have Baby Boy #2 and I can finally stop typing Baby Boy #2 and write out his name 🙂 17 days and counting!

Week 34 1/2 Up Date:

I had a check up yesterday and all is still good. Baby is cooking. My BP and weight gain is good. Baby’s heart beat is 154 and he is measuring right where he should be. I had a bit of a scare on Monday though. I had consistent contractions every 10 minutes for just over 3 hours. I was told to hold tight until they got closer or increased in intensity. They did neither and the Doc reassured me yesterday that I am still on the right track. I also explained to her my sleeping problems. She suggested that I take Tylenol PM, I about jumped out of my chair and kissed her when she said I could take a sleep aid! Last night was the first night in over 4 weeks where I fell asleep before 2am. Because of the contractions, nausea, lack of sleep, and other symptoms she asked if I wouldn’t mind being induced. Again, I held back my urge to kiss her and told her I was fine with that. So… hopefully I will be induced before my due date which would be a dream come true!

Week 33 Up Date:

I am beginning to feel like the kid sitting in the back seat during a long car ride…. ARE WE THERE YET? I am tired of being pregnant, the alternative of 2 boys under 2 is looking pretty wonderful! I have been pregnant 18 out of the 26 months Tim and I have been married… I need a vacation! Cartoon

Week 32 Up Date:

Eight weeks and counting, if we can make it that long! Baby is measuring right where he should be. His heart rate was 154 (good and normal). My blood pressure is good. Now if we could just get rid of the Braxton Hicks, I would be a happy camper. I am so sick of the “practice” contractions I could scream! All I can do is take it easy (says the doc) which is a lot easier said than done when I spend my day chasing after Michael and keeping him out of trouble. Other than being tired of being pregnant, the constant Braxton Hicks, heart burn, not being able to sleep well, and having a tummy the size of a basket ball all is well. My next check up is in 2 weeks, until then I will be breathing through contractions and “taking it easy.”

Week 30 Up Date:

All is still good. I am measuring right at 30 weeks (according to the Med Student Jan had shadowing her). Baby’s head is down and baby’s hear rate is 150. My blood pressure is good and everything is right on track. I go back August 29th for my next check up. Less than 10 weeks to go!

Week 28 Up Date:

It is time to start the Baby Pool! Barry was the clear winner with Michael’s Baby Pool. He had the date and the sex correct. Also, he missed the time by less than 1 1/2 and he was only off by 2 or 3 ounces and half an inch! Good Luck to you all. I put in my guess already. Click on the link below to play along!

Week 27 Up Date:

Baby Boy #2 and I had a check up this week. My blood pressure and weight gain are right on track. I had my glucose screening (all is good) and a Rogam shot too. Baby is doing good too. His heart beat was 146 (right where Michael’s was at this time) and he is measuring right at 28 weeks, so all is good.

I also met with the Birth Plan lady and she gave me all the info I needed to set my mind at ease. She said that the hospital usually recommends waiting until the contractions are a steady 8-10 minutes apart before coming into the hospital, but because Michael’s birth went so fast (from pitocin drip to screaming baby was 5 hours!), as soon as I feel consistent contractions I should go in. She also said that all the Braxton Hicks contractions I have been feeling are normal and that it may be a sign of an even faster labor! Crazy. Only a few more weeks…

Week 26 Up Date:

I got this in an email yesterday and with the weather the way it has been lately, being pregnant in summer, and getting my wisdom tooth out it pretty much sums up how I have been feeling lately.

Week 23 Check Up:

Everything is GOOD. They redid the ultrasound and cast all our worries away. (In the 2nd ultrasound they were concerned with the babies stomach not holding any fluid) The stomach and bladder were both full of fluid and all is well. Baby Boy #2 looked great and was not shy at all about hiding his boy parts. He is for sure a boy! His heart beat was a steady 156, although it took a while to get the heart beat because he was moving around so much! I am doing great, right on track so everything is good again in Baby Land 🙂

Ultrasound was very very clear and there is no doubt that we got another little Shannon man cooking! I was convinced this one was a girl…guess you can’t be right all the time! There were a few concerns with his stomach not holding any/enough fluid and the bladder being empty so there will be another ultrasound in 4 weeks to see how he is developing.

28 days and counting!

I had my 15 week check up today and everything is going great. At the next appointment we get to see the sex of the baby! As promised, I will post it on this page as soon as we find out.

March 4th Check up.

Baby is good. Heart rate is 156. I think it is a girl :) Girls heart rates are normally higher than boys. Michael’s was consistently (tell labor) 146. But who knows…. just a few more weeks and we will find out!!! Now only if we knew where we were having the baby!

Tim and I have decided that we will find out the sex of the baby. We know some people want to keep it a surprise, so when we do find out the sex we will not post it on the blog we will post it on this page. That way, if you want to be surprised you can be, but for those of you who can’t wait to know (Mom and Beth) we promise to post here as soon as we find out!

Knock on wood… I think the worst of the morning sickness is over. As long as I can avoid eggs, I will be fine 🙂

28 weeks to go! Oh my goodness, I am afraid to blink. I know if I do, I will wake up 9 months pregnant in a new city still searching for a home 🙁 AHHH!!!

Baby Shannon #2 is now craving O.J. I have drank over a gallon since Monday! I hardly ever drink O.J. but now I just can’t get enough!

I have been feeling movements for a while now, but last night I felt the first big kick. It is now real, I am pregnant and am going to have 2 kids under 2 years old…. What were we thinking!!! 🙂

Congratulations on a new boy! You know what this means though. In order to have a girl and for that girl to have a sister you will need two more kids. 🙂 It’s great that Michael will have a little brother.

  8. Rachel

I’m SO excited for you guys!!! 🙂 But I have to agree with Steve on this one… although, I don’t know… a girl with no sisters is not such a bad life… depending on the boys, of course:) OH… WHO AM I KIDDIN’?!? When you guys have a girl, be kind and have a second! 🙂

Love you guys & miss you more than you know!

Congrats on another boy, can’t wait to meet him! You know this is starting to seem familiar. It reminds me of the way another family started out. Very similar circumstances. They had a boy and wanted a girl and got another boy. but they kept trying for that girl and walla (spelling-magic word?)they got one 4 boys later!

I am going to place a bet now that this boys is an athlete of some sort. I am not joking, he is kicking ALL day AND night. He moves way more than Michael ever did. So much for the hopes of a nice calm baby!!! 🙂
