I wanted red hair because of Ariel and I am so excited to see another red headed, strong willed and Brave female animated character.
Maybe in a decade or so Elise will be sneaking off to the closest drug store with her friend to buy hair dye. I will never forget how mad my mom was when she saw that bottle of red hair tint in the bathroom trash can. Come to think of it, I am not sure if she was more mad about her towels being stained, me tinting (because-for the record- it was tint, not dye) my hair or Kristen and I riding our bike to White Drug with out permission!
If this weekend had a theme (which I like to do because frankly I have no other outlet for missing theatre (pity party for me!) and I love me a good theme) it would be Super Heroes.
It started with watching Iron Man, which I must say is a kick butt (no more swearing in our house hold, Michael mimics EVERYTHING we say (so bite your tongue when you come to visit)) movie. I honestly really enjoyed the movie. So, I say watch it. Even if you favor chick flicks, watch it, enjoy it, and use it for leverage for the next time you are at the movie rental place (or in our case fighting to get your movie to the top of the Netflix queue). Leverage may sound something like this, “But Honey (babe, sweety…whatever you call your significant other) remember I did watch Iron Man with you, maybe we can watch (insert cheesy romance movie here).” Works like a charm for me 🙂
Michael also has discovered Super Heroes. He now wears his blankie as a cape while we shout “Super Blankie!” and darts around the room or he will “CRASH!” which is Michael’s new term for jumping off boxes or furniture onto a pile of pillows. “CRASH” can only be screamed at the top of your lungs though. “CRASH” is not a whispered or even an inside voice phrase. “CRASH” is yelled with enthusiasm and vigor… every time…every single time. (will post pics as soon as he holds still long enough for us to get a good pic)
And my Super Hero (I count Iron Man as Tim’s because, as mentioned above, there is a new Romantic Comedy coming out that I want at the top of the queue!) is Stephanie Nelson, Coupon Mom. She is my Super Hero. I found out about her on (wait for it, go ahead and laugh) Oprah. I know… total cliche stay at home mom watching Oprah. But for the record, I don’t watch everyday. Just sometimes. Okay, more often than not. Anyways. Coupon Mom has a website with thousands of coupons you can print right off the websites. Hundreds of deals, free sample links, and LOADS of info on how to get the best deal. When she goes shopping for her family of six (I think that is right) her average grocery bill before coupons is almost 200 bucks. AFTER coupons she usually pays less than 50 bucks! 50 BUCKS!
So I gave it a whirl. I printed the coupons and followed her money saving tips (.pdf). Like, I didn’t know you could use manufacture coupons on top of store coupons. We went to Target yesterday to stock up on stuff and we saved 15 bucks! That’s a lot of money for just picking up stuff to stock the cupboards with (ie air deodorizer (our boys are CRAZY stinky) dog food, crackers etc.)
So I say, with the economy going in the crapper. Break out the sissors and/or turn on your computer printer. It doesn’t take a lot of time. There is $100 worth of grociere coupons right on her webpage ready to be printed. Now really, who couldn’t use an extra hundred bucks with gas as expensive as it is AND Christmas just around the corner?!?!
I wanted to be two people growing up; Ariel from The Little Mermaid and Eliza Doolittle from My Fair Lady!
Just Released: Possible Remake of My Fair Lady!
I can’t wait to see what Keira Knightly does with the role. Poor thing, trying to fill Audrey Hepburn’s shoes would be terrifying. Not to mention Julie Andrews who was the original Eliza on Broadway.
Umm… did I mention Producer Extrodanare Cameron Mackintosh is involved! He is the genius behind all the big hits in the eighties like Phantom of the Opera, Les Miz, Cats and more recently Mary Poppins.
It will be good. It has to be good. I wonder who will play Mr. Higgins…..
